Mengenal OUTLET di Indonesia

Factory Outlet Shopping:
Bargains Galore Across Indonesia

Following is a listing of various factory outlet shops in Jakarta, Bandung, Bekasi, Bogor, and Surabaya in Indonesia. If you know of other good outlet shops in major Indonesian cities which specialize in export garments, please share them with the community by sending an email to the webmaster.
These shops used to be called sisa export and are now often called asli-palsu (or real fakes) by Indonesians. In actuality they are factory outlets, which offer overruns and seconds on export garments at bargain prices. The foreign store and foreign currency price tag often is still on the item ... i.e., US$ 65 ... with the Rp price next to it ... Rp 45,000 (US$4.50).
Brands at many of the stores include: Abercrombie & Fitch, Future.now, Eddie Bauer, MAG, Nautica, Fendi, Elle, Hugo Boss, DKNY, Espirit, Calvin Klein, Armani, Crocodile, Balley Apostrophe, Alfred Dunhill, Nike, Reebok, Limited, The Gap, Banana Republic, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo, Adidas, Puma, Ann Taylor, D&G, BCBG, J. Crew, Allure, Bennetton, Cerruti 1881, Victoria's Secret, NY & Company, Sag Harbor, Old Navy, Ocean Pacific, Roxy, Hush Puppy, Versache, Table Eight, Cherokee, Express, Karen Scott and Sears and Mervyn's brands.
The shops carry both Grade A (best quality overruns) and Grade B (seconds with something wrong with them so they didn't pass quality inspection by the buyer). Some also carry factory rejects ... but they wouldn't broadcast that fact! Depending on the agreements between buyers/factories and factory outlets, the items are often put up for sale 3-6 months after they go on the market for full price elsewhere.
Don't be surprised if you see 'Made in Korea' or 'Made in Thailand' (to name a few) tags on the clothes too as many of the shops buy from agents who represents factories in these countries. Or, they are really made in Indonesia and mis-labeled on purpose ... !
Local production for the local market is offered in the shops as well ... with very different quality. Buyer beware ... because some of the stores also sell fakes along with the factory seconds.
After you've been to a few of these stores you'll start to see similarities in stock. Asking the shops in Jakarta if they are branches of Bandung stores, few would admit it ... but a lot of them are selling the same items ... usually for the same price in Jakarta as Bandung. Makes you wonder!
Enjoy bargain hunting!

Getting to Bandung
You can always drive there using your car, rent a Big Bird bus or Silver Bird - depending on traffic via the new toll road the trip only takes about 2 hours (compared to the previous 3-5 hours via Puncak). Or ... take the train and enjoy the picturesque scenery and lots of room to move around in!
From Jakarta to Bandung there are two trains with executive class service which boasts nice reclining seats and air conditioning. (Business class has no a/c). The Argo Gede train is the more expensive one because it's half an hour faster than Parahyangan train. Argo Gede - Jakarta-Bandung trip is only twice a day, takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours. The Parahyangan train costs slightly less and leaves Jakarta very frequently, but takes over 3 1/2 hours. Your driver can go to the Gambir station and purchase the tickets a before your departure, or if you want to be assured of seating, get your tickets through a travel agent a week before departure. For train schedules and routes of the national railway, see Kereta Api Indonesia.
You can be met at the train station by a Golden Bird rented limousine. Cost is per hour and depends on the type of car/van. The drivers are familiar with the location of all the most popular factory outlet shops. Grab a quick bite to eat at McDonald's ... then start shopping. The driver will get you back to the station in time to catch the train back.
If you want to spend a few days in town, you can see the historic spots in town, take a 1 1/2 hour trip to see the active Tangkuban Perahu volcano. A 1+ hour walk down the forest path from the visitors center at the summit leads you to bubbling hot springs where you can boil an egg and collect sulphur encrusted rocks. Half an hour away is Sari Ater, a private hot springs complex of hot springs pools where you can enjoy a cooler and more tolerable temperature! While in Bandung you can visit angklung factory, wayang golek factory, or take a historical tour organized by Bandung Trails.

Thius company sources products for export to Germany only so the brands are German brands. What they sell are not rejected products but samples that they no longer use, but still in good condition with high quality. They have huge selections of winter outfits so it's a perfect place if your looking for coat or sweater, although they also have other garments too.
